HOLLOW FIBER
MEMBRANES

Compact, Efficient, Reliable Filtration

High-surface area, low-pressure filtration for
domestic and industrial applications.

Hollow Fiber Filtration Technology

Hollow fiber membranes are a type of ultrafiltration (UF) membrane in which thousands of fine fibers form a compact module. Water or process liquid passes through the porous fiber walls, allowing clean permeate to flow inside while retaining suspended solids, bacteria, viruses, and other impurities outside. This makes hollow fiber technology highly efficient for both domestic and industrial water treatment applications.

  • Typical pore size: 0.01–0.1 μm, ensuring removal of bacteria, viruses, and turbidity.

  • Operates under low transmembrane pressure, saving energy compared to other filtration methods.

  • Provides high surface area per module, resulting in compact system designs.

  • Can be operated with outside-in or inside-out flow depending on application.

With their compact design, high reliability, and long service life, hollow fiber membranes have become one of the most widely used ultrafiltration solutions worldwide. They are suitable for both small-scale domestic systems and large industrial plants, offering consistent water quality with minimal maintenance.

At Osmotech, we provide advanced hollow fiber membrane modules designed to deliver optimum performance across diverse applications — from safe drinking water to complex industrial processes.

Applications of Hollow Fiber Membranes

Drinking water purification

Municipal wastewater reuse

Food & beverage (juice, beer, dairy clarification)

Process and waste water treatment.

Biopharmaceutical processes (sterile filtration)

Industrial process water treatment

Seawater pretreatment before RO

Domestic Applications

Hollow fiber membranes are widely used in residential and small-scale systems for:

  • Drinking water purification at home

  • Point-of-use (POU) and point-of-entry (POE) filters

  • Household water softening and pre-treatment

  • Protection of RO systems from bacteria and suspended solids

Industrial Applications

In industrial and municipal projects, hollow fiber membranes provide scalable and cost-effective water treatment for:

  • Municipal wastewater reuse

  • Process and cooling water treatment

  • Food & beverage (juice, dairy, brewing, bottling)

  • Pharmaceutical & biotech sterile filtration

  • Pretreatment for seawater desalination (before RO)
